Washington Women in Public Relations is celebrating its 19th annual “Washington PR Woman of the Year” Award. And this year, the Capital Buzz will be sponsoring the event, and have a great gift bag item that will be useful to the busy PR professional.

Each year, WWPR honors an outstanding female public relations practitioner who has spent the bulk of her career in the DC metro area - one of three finalists selected by an impressive judging committee. The winner of this prestigious award provides dedicated service to her clients or organization, while also taking the time to volunteer, mentor others in the field and serve as a leader in our community.
In addition to announcing the 2008 Washington PR Woman of the Year at the luncheon, we will hear from a keynote speaker, Ms. Kathleen Matthews, Executive Vice President, Global Communications & Public Affairs at Marriott International, as well as honor the other two finalists at the event. Ms. Matthews is an award winning-producer, reporter and news anchor who covered news in the nation’s capitol for 25 years.
A portion of the proceeds will go to WWPR’s pro bono client, Doorways for Women and Families, an award-winning 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers safe shelter to abused, homeless and at-risk women and families so that they can live safe, self-sufficient lives.

We just got the menu and it's going to be scrumptious. A salad with goat cheese, raspberries, candied walnuts and champagne vinaigrette. A lovely honey fennel chicken with saffron beurre blanc. Guess what's for dessert? Bailey's infused cheesecake. Doesn't that sound divine? I can't wait to see everyone there!
